Our beloved mother, Rosanne Farris, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2017.
Known for her strength of character and independence, she lived and died with grace, faith in God, and devotion to her family. She will be greatly missed by her seven children, Rosanne O'Callaghan (Dan), Jane Goetz (Bill), Eileen Balme (Jerry), Joseph Farris (Vinci), Kevin Farris (Carol), Daniel Farris (Suzanne), and Lisa Henggeler (Leo.) She leaves behind twenty one grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren (with two baby boys due at the end of the year), all of whom had the gift of a grandmother who loved them unconditionally and inspired them to become the very best they could be. She passed onto her entire family the importance of kindness and generosity, higher education and love of country.

Rosanne was born in 1928 to Jane Hogan and William John Boyle. She was first generation Irish, and was deeply proud of her Irish heritage. She met and married her husband, Joe, who was in the Navy, in 1947. While in the service they lived in Rhode Island, Guam, Hawaii, and San Diego, eventually settling in Upland in 1958.

When her youngest child was five years old, Rosanne returned to school earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She became the head nurse in Pediatrics at San Antonio Community Hospital. After retirement, Rosanne became a travel agent. She loved cruises and frequent trips to Europe, especially her beloved Ireland.

Rosanne was an active member of St. Anthony's Church, as well as a member of the National Federation of Republican Women. She was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed hosting and attending Upland area bridge parties.Rosanne is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph David Farris BMC USN in 1976, her infant grandson, Joseph Robert Farris, and her brother, Walter Boyle. She is survived by brother, Charles Boyle, sister, Josephine McMahon, as well as her loving children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rosanne was the matriarch of the Farris family. She touched our lives and we honor her legacy, so very grateful for the life examples she set for us all.

A celebration of life and Mass of the Christian Burial will take place at Saint Anthony Catholic Church 2110 North San Antonio Avenue Upland, CA 91784 on Monday, September 18th.
